Big Opportunities

Looks like I did a phenomenal job covering all the months I promised I would do. I said I would cover June, July, August, September, October, November, and December. I only got up to July...........
Well anyways, my most sincerest of apologies if you were hopelessly waiting by your computer to see my updates on the following months. I don't have a following of readers, so that probably didn't happen, but I can think that way right? A girl has got to dream.
Let's see....what's new with April's life (yes I just referred to myself in third person, sorry). Actually a lot is going on with my life and I couldn't be any happier!
As I posted earlier, I was serving as a senator for my university's student government association. That senator position has finally turned into a president position! I was so excited to be voted into that prestigious role. However, I am scared out of my mind because my predecessor/best friend was a phenomenal president and I hope to just be able to be in the same caliber as her. But regardless, I got inducted on May 1, 2014 and on May 2, 2014 I was finally starting all my work as a president. Have I run into any bumps on the road? Yes, I have. These bumps in the road have given me much anger and anxiety, because it feels as though I cannot depend on any of my executive officers right now. For example, I asked my secretary to put together one big schedule composed of everyone's summer schedules, but apparently that is too difficult (sarcasm). I did that job for both semesters this past academic year with great ease, so I'm not sure what the problem is with that. I finally just gave the job to my vice president instead, but I'm still waiting on that too....Anyways, sorry for the ranting, it's just something that bothers me because I'm an organized hardworking leader (at least I think I am), and when someone is completely opposite of me in those areas, it makes it very hard for me to work with them.
Nevertheless, there are plenty of benefits of being president of student government. First off, I am on the university's council which is basically the 'Board of Trustees' but we make executive decisions for our campus only. It's really cool, and I'm the only student among all the deans, directors, vice chancellors, and the chancellor himself. It's a great honor, and I was just invited to a party at the chancellor's house (aka mansion) so I'm super excited! I like to refer to this party as a "suaré" to make it sound way cooler. On top of that, I get to go to a national Student Government Association conference in Washington DC this October. I'm beyond excited. I went to DC when I was in 8th grade, but it will be so much better now because I'll appreciate everything a lot more now that I'm an adult. There are a plethora of things I am able to do as president and I feel so incredibly blessed.
Work has been crazy lately. I'm making phenomenal money, but it's still hectic. I now work in the Vice Chancellor's Office of Student Affairs, and I have a very important administrative job in there which I love. On top of that, I work in the Office of Student Activities and Athletics, where I also love the job! In case you haven't noticed, I love being in administrative roles. Luckily, there is a pay raise (and possible promotion) coming my way! Watch out world, here I come!
Next week is the week that I find out my destiny. It is the week where I find out if I got into the nursing school. It is so aggravating because I applied January 14 and I have to wait till next week (or even the week after) to find out about my acceptance into the nursing school. In the end, it will all pay off. Wish me luck!
I feel like there were some other important things in my life to talk about, but I'm going blank right now. That's how my life has been lately though, I think of things to talk about and a minute later they have left my mind. I'll have to work on that, because I need to improve on that.
Anyways, I'm about to get off a full day of work, go home, go shopping for sports bras and yoga pants (sorry TMI), and probably sit outside and get a drink. We'll see though because it may very well turn into me laying down, turning on The Office on Netflix and passing out till 11:00 am tomorrow morning....

July: Pierogies and Parades

July started out very similar to June. Classes and work dominated my summer fun. At this point Chemistry C110 was finally over (thank god!) and I started two new classes for Summer Session 2.

Monday: Nothing
Tuesday: Sociology 3-6
Wednesday: Nothing
Thursday: Sociology 3-6
Friday: Receptionist 6-9
Saturday: Cashier 8-6:30 (AT EARLIEST!)

Besides my sociology class I was also enrolled in a professional writing course that was conducted online. This class was partially a waste of time and partially useful. It was useful because I'll obviously have to do professional writing for my career, but it was a waste of time because it was all pointless busy work. Nevertheless, I got an A so it was a nice addition to my GPA.
As for my sociology class, I LOVED IT! The reason why I enjoyed it so much probably had to do entirely with my professor. He was a phenomenal teacher and I learned so much. It was a prerequisite for a nursing major, and I'm glad it was.

Perhaps the most eventful moment of July was the Pierogi Fest! Out where I live, there used to be a huge Polish population and there is a very popular annual Pierogi fest to celebrate the culture. This year my Student Government Association was part of the parade. Did it have any professional beneficial outcome for us…no. Did it bring us all closer together….YES!

After the parade we just hung out at the fest for a while and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I actually tried pierogis for the first time and I really liked them! What I really didn't enjoy was the fact that I had to get up at 5:30 am the next morning for work. To make things worse, it ended up being a 11.5 hour work day….so yeah it wasn't a fun day, BUT IT WAS WORTH IT!

July wasn't anything special, but it definitely wasn't a waste of time. I gained a lot of knowledge and I made a lot of new friends!

June: One Big Life Decision

Overall, June was boring. Nothing exciting or worthwhile really happened besides one big life decision. For the most part, the month of June played out like this every week.

Monday: Nothing
Tuesday: Chemistry 1-4
Wednesday: Nothing
Thursday: Chemistry 1-4
Friday: Receptionist 6-9
Saturday: Cashier 7:45 am-GOD KNOWS WHEN
Sunday: Nothing

Now that I look at this schedule it seemed like I had a lot of free time, but I remember always being busy for some reason….

Now this big life decision was a scary decision to make. Beginning the third week of May I started my summer session one class. Now at the time, my SS1 class was Anthropology 105 (just basic cultural anthropology) and my major was also anthropology. The weeks before my SS1 began I was struggling with my major. I knew that I loved learning anthropology, but was it something I wanted to make a career out of? I was frustrated everyday because I had no career goals and had no idea where I would be in five or ten years. If any of you have been through that type of situation I sympathize with you! But anyways, after my anthropology class began towards the end of May, I had an epiphany while sitting outside on campus.
I was reading an assigned research article for A105 while I looked up and saw nursing students walk across campus in their scrubs. I thought, 'hmmm, wearing scrubs everyday would make me feel super cool!' And that ladies and gentlemen, is what started off my interest in becoming a nursing major. I am by no means saying that was the only factor, I am just saying that is what kicked off the interest.
After seeing the scrubs, I started thinking about my previous major choices…..I went from psychology, to education, and to anthropology but I still wasn't satisfied. One thing I always wanted to do for sure was help people. I wanted to make a difference in someones life, but I just didn't know which route to take in order to do that; but I had never considered nursing. Perhaps I never considered nursing because I started to become a queasy person or I didn't want to deal with blood, puke, guts, etc. But after seeing the scrubs, it shed a whole new light on the profession for some reason. It was obvious that God was trying to guide me towards a career in the nursing division.
The number one thing that shined bright on the professor for me was the fact that I would finally be able to help people! On top of that, my grandmother that passed away before my birth was also a nurse. My dad always used to tell me to look into nursing since it was a great profession and his mother loved it; but every time he would tell me that, I already had my heart set on another major. But now everything was different, I truly looked deep inside to see if I could handle or succeed at being a nurse. The answer was a semi-strong yes.
The reason I put 'semi-strong' is based on logical inferences. Psychologically, I feel as though I could handle taking care of peoples lives. Physiologically, I am very unsure of whether I will be able to handle blood/guts without getting nauseous. Hence, these are the reasons I put semi-strong. This is actually something I worry about often. What if I can't handle puke or blood? What if I get through much of my schooling and then realize nursing isn't right for me? What if I'm horrible at nursing? All of these questions seem to float around my brain frequently.
I try to condition myself as often as I can. For example, when someone in my house cuts themself or has any medical problem I go and assess the situation. Often times I bandage the person up, fetch medicine, etc. This type of exposure will hopefully help prepare me for the brutal world of nursing. One thing I continuously tell myself is that, "If you are in the process of trying to save someones life, you are not even going to worry about the blood/guts/puke/etc. you will remain strong and do your job!" And believe it or not, telling myself this actually helps.
After having these epiphanies and revelations during the first week of SS1 classes, I realized this profession would be right for me. The other phenomenal thing about nursing is that there are so many areas to branch into. If I don't like one area, I can transfer over to another, and I can always advance my education in the healthcare field. There were so many wonderful pros contributing towards becoming a nurse, that I couldn't pass up the opportunity to be a nursing major and save lives.
All within those 48 hours or so, I changed from an anthropology major to a nursing major, I dropped my A105 class and quickly added the C110 class for SS1.
I researched my university's nursing program and saw that I basically had all my prerequisite classes done for a pre-nursing major besides Life Chemistry and Anatomy&Physiology. Lucky for me, I was able to squeeze into that Chemistry class for summer session one right on time. From that moment on I have been meticulously preparing to get into the School of Nursing.

So looking back at June 2013, there wasn't much going on event-wise, but there were many giant life-decisions happening. I am so pleased with my decision because I now have lists of career goals and I now have a vision of where I will be in five to ten years. Of course my oncoming years of education will be difficult, but I am willing to jump those hurdles in order to achieve my goal of saving people lives.

Oh, I completely forgot! I had also turned 20 this past June! Yay!

April Dolores

Here's the Plan

I know, it's been a very long time since I've made any posts. Sure, I updated you about my class schedule at the end of August, but that doesn't tell you anything! And the time before that, I was just updating you about my chemistry final at the end of June! Nevertheless, I will not deny you the right to learn everything about my life between then and now! (Well not absolutely everything, but you get the gist)
I've done everything between being in a pierogi parade in July all the way to planning my trip to Boston for a conference in March. Those aren't the only exciting events in my life though, there is a lot more worth telling you about.
There is no humanly way possible to write about everything that has happened in my life in one post so I devised a plan. While on winter break, I shall make multiple posts. Each post will be dedicated to one individual month. June, July, August, September, October, November, and December will all have to be covered.
Compared to last year, there is much more going on this year that is worth staying tuned in for! I hope you will enjoy!

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

First Day of School

Good morning everyone,
Today I embark on a new adventure in my wonderful life, the beginning of my sophomore year of college. It should be interesting an interesting semester considering I am beginning the nursing curriculum and I am curious of whether I will love it or not. Nevertheless, I will try my hardest to succeed!
Here are the classes I am taking this semester:
Anatomy and Physiology Lab
Anatomy and Physiology Lecture
Anatomy and Physiology Discussion
Biomedical Ethics
Children's Literature
Psychology Statistics

Did I forget a class?
Oh yeah, BALLET!
Technically, I don't need it for my nursing major, but my friend who is a law enforcement major is doing it with me and it's going to be CRAZY!
We seriously have no idea what to expect, but we will make the absolute best of the situation.

All in all, life is going well right now and I feel extremely blessed.

Sincerely,
April Dolores

Chemistry Final from Hell

From the time that I started learning hardcore science, I have stunk at it. I haven't failed or anything, I just didn't completely comprehend it. No matter if I study for eight hours straight, I still do not get A's. I just don't know what it is. In any other subject I am able to catch on if I read and study, but for chemistry I just can't get it.
I know I haven't updated on anything lately, but I have recently changed to a nursing major which meant that I had to take chemistry C110 as a prerequisite.  At first I was deceived since the first week or so was very simple stuff, but I was easily mistaken. We started learning a whole bunch of stuff that wasn't even explained well in the book. On top of that, my professor can never answer your questions, he goes off on rants that have nothing to do with chemistry, and he has a heavy french accent. So all in all, going to class doesn't help either. I am usually an independant studier, so going to lectures doesn't always benefit me, especially for chemistry since he can sometimes confuse me even more.
I have no idea why I am entering a blog post right now considering I have a final in less than three hours right now. I studied last night, but I just could not focus at all! The final is a cumulative test over the last three exams. You might think, 'wow that's not that bad, only three tests worth', but you my friend are wrong. These exams have so much darn information stacked in each exam that my brain feels like it is going to explode.
The final is around 55 questions, so each and every question is important to get right. I need at least a B on this final so I can maintain a B in this class. Just put me in your prayers that I pass this horrendous test (well I will pass without a doubt, but I want to get a really great grade)!

Adam's Departure

I know...it's been a while since I have posted, but better late than never.
Anyways, here's a little update on my life.
Adam, 18, my brother has officially left for basic training, and I miss him....ALOT!
I never thought I would miss him this much, but I do.
But I guess some context about the situation would be of much help.
For starters, Adam just graduated high school and is going to Purdue University next year to study engineering. The original problem is that we can't really afford taking out five billion dollars in loans (sarcasm) for him and I to go away to school, but Adam had a plan.

Adam's graduation ceremony, June 5, 2013
Adam's plan was to join the National Guard and ROTC so that he could go away to Purdue since the state of Indiana will pay for his tuition. I don't exactly know all the details because it can be a little confusing, but long story short, he has to go to basic training for the summer.
Adam left on June 10th to take a plane down the Atlanta, Georgia. For starters there was a hour and a half delay since there was severe weather in Atlanta. Luckily for him he got to meet some WNBA players while he sat in the airport. Anyways, when he finally got on the plane and finally landed in Atlanta he went to go get on the bus that was supposed to drop him off at Fort Benning, but it wasn't that easy. He waited for the bus for FOUR HOURS!!! He wasn't nervous that he missed it since there was around one hundred other soldiers waiting to catch the same bus with him.
He finally arrived at Fort Benning for infantry training that night of June 10th. We haven't really heard from him yet besides a couple little tiny weeny letters and a couple of two-minute phone calls.
It has finally hit me that he is gone and I hate it. I never thought I would miss him this much but I do. I was always used to him being gone since he was always with his friends, but this is completely different. I cannot see him in the mornings, I cannot see him after school, I cannot text him, I cannot call him, I cannot see his tweets, and I have no idea what he is doing!
When he graduates basic training and finally arrives at Purdue, I will try to visit him alot. And even though he might not admit it, we are actually pretty close siblings. For god sakes, we are only 13 months apart!

Getting Back On Track

Hello world,
I have been a horrible blogger and I apologize for that nonsense. But I am here not to inform you of anything, I am here to yell at myself for being a horrible person.
Now I am not talking about horrible as in mean or nasty, I am horrible at dieting.
I joined Weight Watchers in January and joined a new gym by my house in March. Weight Watchers was an immediate success and I lost 17 pounds by the end of March, but that success soon plummeted. During my Spring Break I fell off the deep end. I was just so bored and my boredom led to a life full of food for that long week. By the following Tuesday (my weekly weigh-in day) I had gained four pounds.....FOUR POUNDS...how did I even manage to do that, and how did I not have a heart attack from gaining all that in such a short amount of time!?! Let me just say it this way, the results of that week scared the life out of me, and I got back on track that following week.
But the well behaved week didn't last...
I fell of the deep end again and I haven't been able to get back up yet!
This past weekend has been the worst though. My parents went out of town for Andrew's tournament, and I was bored and alone so I decided to eat. I know some people like to indulge in potato chips or pizza but I indulge in one thing....SUGAR. I'm just obsessed with sugar no matter what it is in. And the result of the incredible sugar consumption was feeling like total crap. I seriously just felt so bad, sick, gross, and lumpy.
Tomorrow morning is my weigh-in and I am so scared. Since I lost those wonderful 17 pounds I gained  seven of those back already. I'm spiraling way too fast, and I need to get my booty back on track, because I feel and look disgusting.
Perhaps the worst thing is that I haven't worked out. In my defense sometimes I cannot because I have those annoying foot procedures done where I cannot walk for a week or so, so that really throws me off, but hopefully those procedures won't happen as often anymore. But nonetheless, I must start working out though to get those endorphins flowing. One of the main reasons I need to work out again though is because I pretty much have a double chin right now and it is so embarrassing. Like seriously, how many 19 year olds can say that have that...not many!
With a cherry on top of all of this wonderfulness (complete sarcasm) my acne is worse than a 13 year old going through puberty. Like for real, it is HORRIBLE. My dermatologist is trying to help me, but everything is drying my skin out really bad without producing any results.
So all in all, I guess it is safe to say I have absolutely no confidence in anything right now and my blood sugar levels are skyrocketing so it is hard to get back on track. But I am going to try my hardest, especially since finals are coming up and I don't want to feel sad and disgusting during that already stressful time.
But I will keep you updated about my hopeful successes in my weight, exercise, acne, and finals.

Update

My room is officially done except for one piece that I have just ordered online. Everything is in place, and my room couldn't look any more modern/chic/classic/fun/colorful even if it tried.
I would take pictures and post them now, but I want to wait till I have my final piece hung up.
The final piece is an art piece that is desperately needed above my desk. I found a beautiful watercolor abstract painting on www.art.com. It's a poster and needs a frame, so I also have to do that. I got a poster of it because it would be like five hundred thousand dollars if it was an original on canvas. (Okay, I know I exaggerated, but it would have been seriously way too expensive)

I know I say that the only thing left to do in my room is getting that picture, but I know of one more thing my room could use....a television.
I guess I don't really need one, but if I did invest in one, my room would officially look just like a studio apartment (without the kitchen).
I have enough money saved up to buy one, but I have one problem, I don't have a cable plug in my room (or whatever it is actually called). I'm not so sure on how that all works, but don't they make those tv connection cords that don't have to be plugged into anything, they are linked to one main server.
Okay, now it just looks like I'm oblivious to how televisions work, so I'm just going to stop talking.

What I'm going to do know is go research all that television stuff, then come back and sound smarter about all that subject matter.

But all in all, my room looks great, when I put the finishing touches up, I will take pictures and post them.

Room Update

The New Color Scheme For My Room
So right now here are the items that I have:
1. Daybed
2. Coffee Table(s)
3. Comfy Recliner Chair
4. Sunburst Mirror
5. One light Fixture
6. Decorative Pillows
7. Wall Decor

So as you can see this three day weekend has been a successful one. All of this came together really quickly and I ran with it. On Friday night my mom and I went to TJ Maxx and struck it rich with pillows and cool decorative ampersand signs.
On Sunday we then went to Ikea for the first time and I got two coffee tables and a light fixture there.  The coffee tables are simple round tables with glass tops. I got two because one would just look weird and two of them together would be pretty. So yeah, we got two. The light fixture is a table lamp that is kind of cool and modern. I am not sure how to describe it but when I start putting my room together I'll take pictures.
After Ikea, I then headed over to Homegoods. I was so excited to walk in there and I found so many cute accessories for around the room, but I couldn't get them.....they weren't expensive, they were to fragile, and they weren't ugly. I couldn't get them because I had found a beautiful chair and not everything would fit in the car. The chair was a gray over sized comfy sofa seat that happened to also be a recliner. I was then obsessed with it and the price. The chair was originally over $400 but we got it for just under $200. If that isn't a steal, I don't know what is. So after purchasing the chair and the two tables at Ikea, we somehow had to fit it all in my CR-V. It was a feat, but we accomplished the daunting task.
On Monday my mom and I headed over to some weird store by us and I had such a closed-mind thinking we wouldn't find anything, but I was wrong. When we first walked in we found a cheap long mirror that I'm going to put on the back of my door, it was a simple but needed find. We then started walking towards the back of the store where we found a beautiful wall piece. It was a huge and gorgeous sunburst mirror that will be the focal point above my bed.

Perhaps the biggest accomplishment of this weekend was cleaning out ALL MY DRAWS AND CLOSET. I haven't really done this since my freshmen year or so, so you can only imagine how much I threw out.

SEVEN BAGS OF DONATED CLOTHES LATER, my draws are finally cleaned out and ready to be transferred all to one dresser.

So yeah, as I said in the beginning, this weekend was a total success; but the next feat that I must accomplish is painting the room.....wish me luck.

Room Makeover: Stage One

Okay, yeah, I know I haven't entered anything since November, but nothing has happened in between then and now that would be worth posting. No, really, NOTHING!
But now I finally have something to talk about and continue updating about....I'm redoing my room! I'm so extremely excited.
Last night my mom and I ordered a daybed on eBay. The reason we decided on ordering a daybed is because when I move out in a couple years (hopefully) it can be used as a bed/couch if I'm in a studio apartment or it can be part of a guest room, or it can be my bed while I'm saving up for a King/Queen size bed. So see, it is a great idea!
The problem with finding daybeds though is that most of them look like baby cribs. No seriously, they do, it's ridiculous. I found one that sort of looks like a couch so it will be good and my twin mattress will fit in there; comfy and smart!
Anyways, besides buying the daybed, my next feat will be finding a color scheme. Right now I am almost certain on one thing, my wall color. Right now the whole 'gray is the new beige' is what I'm thinking. Gray walls with all colorful accessories is my plan....for now at least. So here are some schemes I'm leaning towards...

I really want some playful colors, but I don't want them so playful, that it starts to look like a little girl/preteen room. So, I must be careful! I also don't want pink to be the main color, it's not that I don't like pink, it's just that I want my room to look more classy than girly; but I know that pink will be an accent color in one way or another.

So I'm working toward Room Makeover Stage One right now: picking the color scheme, and painting the walls.

Oh, and let me know what color schemes you like!

96%

Okay, well I took my anthropology midterm on Tuesday. I wasn’t too nervous about the midterm, even though I should have been, so I basically didn’t study for it on Monday night. On Tuesday morning I studied with my friend in the library for a couple hours before the test. I got a lot done and it really helped even though of course I felt as though I could have studied much more the night before. When I got the test I was pretty nervous considering I really had no idea what my chances were for getting an A. When I started taking the test, I went straight for the fill in the blank section. It was over various things and it was pretty easy. So that boosted up my confidence. I then started all the multiple-choice questions and some of them were tricky of course, but I managed. One hundred twelve questions later I handed in the test. I surprisingly felt pretty confident about it. On Thursday my professor started handing back the quiz and midterm, I suddenly felt nervous for some reason. My two friends got their midterms back next to me and they both got D’s so I then started getting much more nervous. Then he handed back my test and quiz. I slowly opened my eyes as I peeked at my grade. I then felt my adrenalin pumping right away. I was so happy and pumped up. I got a 96% on the midterm and a 100% on the quiz. I felt so elevated and amazing. So in the end, I am basically acing that class right now and most of my other classes. I pretty much love college.

First Midterm Update

So I know that it has been a long while since I have updated, but here it is.
College is going great. I am getting good grades and I am making friends quickly. On top of the whole college thing, i have been working every friday and saturday, and I love my job.
So those two factors alone have been contributing to a wonderful school year so far.
In more recent news (as of the last week) I have started a jump rope workout regimen. I know it doesn't seem like any big deal, but this jump roping burns. You would think that the only thing that would be sore from doing this would be your calfs from repeatedly jumping, but my abs, neck, and shoulders are KILLING ME. I love being sore, I should do it more often, but I loose focus much of the time on that portion of life. Hopefully this time will be different, but I doubt it.
Wait, I'm doubting myself right now, I need to slap myself in the face....okay I'm good now.
My new obsession is spending WAY TOO MUCH money on makeup. I don't know what is wrong with me. Maybe I'm starting to feel the power of spending my own money, but either way, it's bad.
During the urge of going makeup shopping I went into Ulta and talked to a makeup artist. I told her about my skin problems and my breakouts, and my over active oily skin. She gave me a new face regimen called Dermalogica Medibac Treatment.
Let me tell you, it has been one the best purchases in my entire history as a human being. I have tried and tested sooooooooo many acne treatments, over the counter and prescription, but nothing has ever been better than this. Literally, within three days of using it, my face is almost flawless. On top of the regimen, the makeup advisor told me about this skin care facial treatment that a trained professional from Dermalogica does to completely clean up your face. She said it's like a teeth cleaning for your face. It's not even that expensive, for over an hour of treatment it will cost 55 dollars. It might seem like a lot for some, but for me, I'm really willing to do it for BEAUTIFUL skin! So I have that appointment on Thursday. I'm excited.
One of the most influential moments that have happened since I last updated my blog, was the revelation about my major and career choice. After thinking about everything going on since the beginning of my freshman year of college, I decided to make a change in my field of study. I knew that I loved psychology, I knew that I loved history, and I knew that I have wanted to teach for some time now. So I put all those factors together and decided I wanted to be a secondary social studies teachers with a focus in psychology. To do this I would have to major in secondary social studies education with a minor in psychology. Right now at this very second I am waiting for an email from one the education professors to come to talk to them about my schedule for next semester. I  am extremely excited to find out what I will be taking.
As you can see from this updated blog post is that everything is going well. I love my job, I am doing well in school, and I am excited to start my new life after college.

Happy Coincidence

Isn't it funny how my phone has just been put up for an upgrade and the iPhone 5 has just been released. What a happy coincidence. I couldn't be any more excited. The only problem now is...when does the phone come out in stores? Either way I will hopefully be purchasing my phone online this weekend or next week. I'm so excited (Have I said that yet?). Here's the link for Apple incase you guys are interested in seeing the beautifulness for yourselves.

Rethinking Things

So yesterday my dad sent me an email about psychology jobs and their median salaries that they make. Even though I basically already knew the facts about what I may possibly make I was still optimistic that I would make more; but after looking at the email, I started rethinking things. As a mental health counselor I wouldn't be making that much.
I know, I know, it's not all about the money, but sometimes it is. So right know I'm trying to think of different possibilities for career choices while still remaining in the psychology field (since I still love psychology).
Do I want to go into teaching? Do I want to go into industrial psychology? Do I want to go into human relations? Man, I'm starting to get nervous. I realize many students are going through the same thing I am, so I'm trying to relax myself. We'll I guess I'll go start the personality/career matching tests.

Masterpiece

So here it is ladies and gentlemen, my pièce de résistance. Now I'm not going to try and take credit for this genius idea, I got it from Pinterest (my favorite website).
Now what I had to do was buy a big pack of crayons and a little pack of crayons. I took out all the browns, whites, blacks, silvers, and golds (you could keep them in if you want, but I wanted a vibrant canvas). I put the colors in order by putting pinks first and ending with purples. Well I should clarify that, I kind of did the rainbow backwards, I started with purples and ended with pinks.
I then used a hot glue gun to individually glue each crayon in place. Then after that gluing was done, I started to melt the crayons.
To melt the crayons I used a blow dryer. When I started to blow dry the crayons I thought it was going to take forever for them to start melting, but they started melting within 45 to 60 seconds. But just to warn you in case you decide to do this project, I spend about an hour blow drying them. It was worth it though.
But now I'm in trouble, and here is why...
I'm not obsessed with looking for another arts and craft project to do. I've been searching on Pinterest for a simple but beautiful project but I'm not finding one yet, but don't you even worry I WILL find one soon. I'll update you all later on my plans for my next project. I first have to find one though.

Professor April Dolores

So yeah...I thought I would be lost forever on that finite lesson because my professor didn't explain anything; but I taught myself.
Here's how I did it:
1. Read the section in the book
2. Summarize the section in your notes
3. Write down all the equations of definitions
4. Go on the book website and do ALL the practice problems
5. Repeat the ones you got wrong
6. Do the homework assigned to you through the online website
7. Get 100%
8. Repeat for every lesson you don't understand

I don't mean to show off but I got 100% on that homework assignment by teaching myself everything.

You can call me...
Professor April Dolores

What is wrong with me?

So the past two mornings I have arrived at school way early. On Tuesday I showed up to school a little over an hour early and this morning I arrived two hours early. What is wrong with me?! I got up at 6:45 am, got to school at 9:05 am and I don't even have class until 11:20 am.
To be completely honest though, I get my best work done in the morning and I'm not rushing to get homework done that is due today, I'm trying to get ahead of the game by doing homework that is due tomorrow afternoon. There is meaning to my madness!
This morning (with my excess of two extra hours before class) I shall study anthropology and maybe get some finite done (I will probably save that for my lunch break though). After class ends at 3:45 pm I will then focus on reading my psychology chapter to prepare for my quiz tomorrow.

I discovered my new "zen" spot at school and in my town.
The second floor at the library at my school is the perfect place for me study. I have no distractions. I have a huge table to spread out my stuff. I have all the resources I could need all around me. It's perfecto!!
While at home I cannot get any studying there, so yesterday I discovered my new favorite study place, the public library. I know...it's not like I discovered something amazingly great that is going to change the world for all students, but I never thought it would be a great place for me to study since I tend to "people watch" in many public places.
All in all college is going well (It's only going to be my third day, but hey...it could be worse). I'm not "half-assing" any of my work (excuse my french), and I'm working hard at my work so I can get "gggggrrrrrreat" (as Tony the Tiger would say) grades.

By the way, does anyone have good advice for me as I start my first semester in college? It would be a great help to have inside advice from college graduates! Thanks!

Here's the Gist

So here's the gist, the first two days of college were a great starting experience (even though I have not exactly socialized with anyone really yet). I found all my classes extremely easily considering it's a fairly small campus, I had all my materials ready, I'm finding pretty decent parking spaces, and I'm understanding the material being taught (minus finite math, but I'll get to that later).
Here's the gist of my classes in a nutshell
Spanish: I'm ahead of the game considering I took three years of Spanish in high school. I'm basically focusing on reviewing.
English: I'm a little more laid back considering it has no intense focus on literature like AP English did last year. I'm excited to purely focus on my writing abilities.
Finite: Yeah, first of all, over half the class was late considering we were waiting outside the classroom and she only opened up one door, and the rest of us were oblivious to the happening. We finally found our way into the classroom. I'm extremely happy that it was over half the class that was late and not just me. After the tardiness to class, I walk in and my professor was foreign, great... I have a hard time understanding accents (I have the most trouble with Asian accents, but my Professor is Eastern European I think, so I'll catch on eventually). But even without the trouble of understanding translating the accent, I couldn't completely grasp the lesson on the first day of class! Whatever though, I'll teach myself, I'll catch on, no worries.
Anthropology: I'm really excited about this class. Out of all my professors, I'm most excited about this professor. He seems very inspirational and he knows his stuff! He actually told us that this his 40th year being a professor...WOW!!!
Psychology: This was supposed to be the class I'm most excited about considering it is my major, but my professor seems completely clueless on how to teach. He took the powerpoint that was premade by our psychology books publishers and read it to us. He added no supplemental information to assist us at all. He seems to have the personality of a rock...and we have a quiz/test over chapter one Thursday already! I guess that's college though...oh well, It'll be fine.
All in all, college is a big change and for the better. Don't quote me on this but I'm actually excited to study and learn this first semester.

First Day of School

So it's finally here, my first day of college. It was so surreal this morning walking into a school and realizing it was college. My first class that I just got out of was Spanish 101. I'm glad I took 101 even though I had three years of spanish in high school. All in all it is good to start at the beginning again. My next class is english...yay! (Did you catch onto the sarcasm?) I'm not as upset about taking it since it's an intensive writing course, and not literature (thank god). So I'll update you when I'm get out of english, but for now, wish me luck in english!
